JOB SUMMARY
Our team is seeking a Monitoring Engineer, to perform engineering tasks (technical design change and modification work) associated with a various monitoring products (e.g., Microsoft SCOM and Aternity). The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a passion and proficiency for advanced System Management skills to impact systems architectures, investigate system-wide technical problems, and develop new features. The role will design, implement, and provide Tier 3 (engineering) support for a world-wide monitoring infrastructure. A key function of this role is the creation of automated playbooks (such as auto-remediation activities, auto-creating service desk tickets, sending alert notifications) in response to monitoring the environment. Work includes: maintain and provide Tier 3 support for SCOM and Aternity; work with the Operations team lead to head-off or remediate issues; keep architectural and technical documentation up to date, including build & test procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 5 years’ of broad IT experience, including technical knowledge of network, environmental, hardware, storage, operating systems, and applications.
  • 3 years’ experience with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • networking technologies (including TCP/IP and DNS),
    • SCOM underpinning technologies (including IIS and SQL Server)
    • Scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
Desired: 
  • Prior experience with Aternity User Experience Monitoring platform.
  • Experience with Hyper-V and SC-VMM;
  • Strong working familiarity with Active Directory
  • CCNA or any fundamental network equivalent
  • Strong background in voice gateways and session border controllers
  • Excellent understanding of wireless systems
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training/certification, or work/military experience. For applicants without the relevant college degree, a history of certifications from various sources will be considered.
